Pizzelles

Pizzelles have always been served at special family gatherings. I have, and use, Grandma Gurto’s original non-electric pizzelle maker that she had since the 1950s.

Total time: About 45 minutes to make a full batch

Ingredients

  • 12 large Eggs
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1 1/2 Cups vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 tsp Aniseed essence
  • 3 cups Plain flour

Method

  1. Step 1 – Preheat pizzelle maker.
  2. Step 2 – Place eggs in a large bowl and beat slightly, until blended.
  3. Step 3. Add sugar and mix until sugar is dissolved.
  4. Step 4 – Add remaining wet ingredients and mix.
  5. Step 5 – Add flour all at once and mix until a smooth batter is made.
  6. Step 6 – Place 1/3 Cup batter on each section of the Pizzelle maker.
  7. Step 7 – Cook until lightly browned on each side.
